Angesichts der Tragödie in Graz am Dienstag ist es wichtiger denn je, Räume zu haben, in denen Menschen gemeinsam trauern, sich erinnern und sich gegen jede Form von Gewalt stellen können. Wir fühlen mit dem Schmerz und Verlust der Betroffenen mit. Die interaktive Performance von Spatium Memoriae [ŠTO TE NEMA] wird dem auch Raum geben und wie geplant stattfinden. Kunst kann als Werkzeug dienen, um Solidarität und Verbundenheit zu fördern. Deshalb laden wir Sie herzlich ein, am Freitag an der interaktiven Performance teilzunehmen. Um 19 Uhr möchten wir – anstelle einer offiziellen Eröffnung – gemeinsam mit Ihnen offen über Trauer, Verlust sprechen und wie wir als Gemeinschaft für einander sorgen können.
In response to the tragedy in Graz on Tuesday, we believe it is more important than ever to create spaces for people to mourn, remember and stand against all forms of violence together. We are deeply mindful of the pain and weight of those closest affected. With this in mind, the interactive performance of Spatium Memoriae [ŠTO TE NEMA] will take place as planned. Art can be used as a tool to foster solidarity and connection. Please join us on Friday for the interactive performance, and at 7pm, in lieu of an opening, for an open reflection and discussion on grief, loss, and how we can care for one another as a community.

Das Kunstprojekt ŠTO TE NEMA – Warum bist Du nicht hier? – ist seit 2006 dem gemeinsamen Gedenken an den Völkermord in Srebrenica 1995 gewidmet. Was kann man dem Grauen der mörderischen Gewalt von Menschen, die zuvor friedlich zusammenlebten, entgegensetzen?
Mit ŠTO TE NEMA setzt die bosnisch-amerikanische Künstlerin Aida Šehović Kunst als Mittel für Heilung, Widerstand und Aktion ein.
The art project ŠTO TE NEMA – Why aren‘t you here? – has been dedicated to commemorating the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide since 2006. How can we address and prevent the devastating violence that erupted among people who once lived together in peace?
With ŠTO TE NEMA, Bosnian-American artist Aida Šehović uses art as a means of healing, resistance, and action.

Diese Kooperation von Grazer Kulturinitiativen ist dem Zusammenleben in Frieden und Vielfalt gewidmet. Im Zentrum des Programms steht das nomadische Gedenkprojekt ŠTO TE NEMA / Warum bist Du nicht hier? der Künstlerin Aida Šehović, zum immer noch umstrittenen Gedenken am Völkermord in Srebrenica vor 30 Jahren. Der von der UN 2024 ausgerufene internationale Gedenktag am 11. Juli wird 2025 zum zweiten Mal begangen.
Mit ŠTO TE NEMA schuf Aida Šehović ein gemeinsames Gedenken an den Genozid in Srebrenica, bereits an zahlreichen Orten weltweit. Dieses mobile, performative und partizipative Denkmal war nicht an große Institutionen angebunden, sondern beruhte auf dem Engagement der Zivilbürgerschaft. Gespräch, Beteiligung und die Schaffung eines symbolischen Raums des Mitempfindens stehen im Zentrum dieses langfristigen Projekts.
This cooperation between cultural initiatives in Graz is dedicated to living together in peace and diversity. At the heart of the program is the nomadic memorial project ŠTO TE NEMA / Why are you not here? by artist Aida Šehović, on the still controversial commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica 30 years ago. The international day of remembrance proclaimed by the UN in 2024 on July 11 will be celebrated for the second time in 2025.
With ŠTO TE NEMA, Aida Šehović created a collective commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica, realized in numerous locations worldwide. This mobile, performative, and participatory memorial was not linked to large institutions but was based on the commitment of civil society. Conversation, participation, and creating a symbolic space of empathy are at the heart of this long-term project.
